Biographical text that talks about the life of Jesus Christ from the information given by the four Gospels. The life was enriched with comments from Fathers and scholastics and also moral and dogmatic meditations from the author. See Lorenzo 1993: 684 and Nascimento, 2001: 126-127.

Belonging to the Order of Friars Preachers, Ludolph of Saxony was the author of numerous religious studies, having also written this work. He met a huge success from the fifteenth century forward.

Today there are still several manuscript copies and printed texts and there were made translations in various languages such as Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Catalan, etc.

Other copies are in the British Library, Biblioteca comunale dell'Archiginnasio (Bolonha), Biblioteca Nacional da Holanda (Koninklijke Bibliotheek) and Biblioteca da Universidade de Sevilha.
